Our Past:

• Aeromao is backed by years of experience and a history of innovative endeavours in the area of                                                                                UAVs for high-precision mapping and aerial photography uses. Its founder,  Mauricio Ortiz Buitrago, founded and directed Elevation Engineering Ltd since 2004. The firm was the first in Latin America to provide aerial photography and photomapping services with UAVs, and successfully completed more than 280 flight missions. These missons resulted in spectacular flight operations and imagery, due mainly to the complexity of the terrain and the technology involved. We completed hunderds of contracts flying for government intitutions, private firms and even military agencies.

Some samples of oblique aerial photography from the hundreds of flights we performed in South America:

• We started flying and operating UAVs by the year 2003, well before high precision photomapping with UAVs became popular. By the following years we continously provided orthorectified imagery to companies and institutions in agriculture, mining, road planning and construction, real estate, surveillance, general surveys, as well as and geo-referenced videos. Our first UAV was named The Genesis and it had a wingspan of 3,3m, a maximum takeoff weight of 21 Kg, a flight endurance of 3 hrs and was able to carry payloads of up to 5 Kg. It was designed with outstanding STOL (Short Take Off and Landing capabilities), a critical feature to operate in the typically challenging terrains of South America. The airplane was specifically built to support hundreds of ''aircraft carrier-like''  landings in very small areas, were an ample and clear plain field was almost never available for takeoff and landing. See a short video  of the Genesis in action here.

Among all the orthophotos that we achieved for our clients, one of them is very special.  It is a precision orthophoto that became the first  in the history produced with UAVs to be published BY Google Inc., in Google Earth software. This image is still known to be the only one of its kind in Google Earth being achieved with a UAV. Please note, is NOT an image posted in Google Earth by an user but the first UAV-made official inclusion approved by Google Inc., because it passed all their tests and quality requirements to be an official orthophoto. (Search in Google Earth for Castilla, Meta, Colombia).  To know more about this story click here.

Our most immediate goal is to produce the best-selling,  ready to fly UAV for aerial photography and photomapping at prices that make sense for our customers.
